Lots of folk write and ask me for advice, instructions and general information. I decided that I would put a place on the internet that allows them to visit and see what mischief I am (or have been) up to. Hopefully it will be appreciated - please feel free to press Ctrl + End and go to the bottom of this page and give me some feedback. If you think that it is worth it, please tell your friends, if not, please tell me - thank you.

It is my intention to add something here every 7 to 10 days - the most recent stuff will always be at the top of the page to save you time. Sometime in the future, I have decided my policy and techniques for removing stuff from the bottom - there will only ever be two weeks information shown in this page. At the bottom there will be a link to an index of earlier pages. This way, it will stop the page from becoming too long and unwieldy !

Feedback
One or two folk have said nice things about this page    . The number of visitors have fallen     but at the moment, I am still minded to carry on writing it each week.

BUT

it would be really good if every visitor to it, took a few seconds to invite a few friends to visit it please - thank you

New stuff in Byers Writings
Several folks have asked me to show / tell them how to create a web site in a few simple steps. They have said that they do not want to become instant experts, just able to do a few simple things. About half want to do it for their business and the other half want to create a site that tells anyone, that wants to look, about their family, its members, interests, ancestors etc.

See what I have done so far click here

You might like to take a look at a new site that I created - www.peterbyers.com if you do visit it, please put a brief message at the bottom of it to let me know that you visited it - thank you in anticipation (I hope)

There is a Newsgroup that gives me hours of great delight, amusement and entertainment, it is:-
dbase.watercooler Chat, gossip, humor, user group announcements, etc. This group is NOT intended for technical discussions.
In my opinion, it is just how a Newsgroup should be.

This weeks hotel
This week, I have not been to any hotels, but I will tell you about one that I really love - it really is a bit special

The Beetle and Wedge Hotel
Ferry Lane
Moulsford-on-Thames
Oxfordshire
OX10 9JF
Telephone 01494 - 651 381
FAX 01494 - 651 376
This is a really great place at which to stay and/or to eat !!

It is on the side of the River Thames in Oxfordshire.

It is owned and managed by Mr and Mrs Richard and Kate Smith.

If you get sunshiny weather, it is really really very special. I guarantee that if you visit, you will never never forget it.

Northern folk will understand when I say that "there is no side to them", you can just relax and be yourself. Enjoy an informal top hole lunch in the BoatHouse. If you can fit it in, a slightly formal dinner in the conservatory.

It is true to say that you remember an hotel by the last meal you eat there - usually breakfast, well you will not be dissappointed with your breakfast here. If they know what you want, that is what you will get - explain your order carefully and clearly.

I defy you not to enjoy it - I have no hesitation in commending it to you.

Recommendations
First there are a couple of computer magazines that I think are very interesting and informative
The first is InternetWorks - a light read.
The second is PC Magazine - a deeper read.

I like to think of myself as a "man of the cut" - I sold my last Narrowboat a few months ago and am looking for a Wideboat (yes "the cut" is an affectionate name for Canals, or Inland Waterways). Eventually I will find one that attracts me at a price that I can afford. In my wanderings, i visited a boatbuilder to see what they had on offer. While I have not yet done any business with them, they impressed me mightily. They appeared a professional, business like, knowledgable organisation that operated a very tidy busy boatyard and they cared about what their customers wanted. I drove away salivating (positively drooling) over what I had seen. On that basis, I feel able to recommend them in here.
