Lots of folk write and ask me for advice, instructions and general information. I decided that I would put a place on the internet that allows them to visit and see what mischief I am (or have been) up to. Hopefully it will be appreciated - please feel free to press Ctrl + End and go to the bottom of this page and give me some feedback. If you think that it is worth it, please tell your friends, if not, please tell me - thank you.

It is my intention to add something here every 7 to 10 days - the most recent stuff will always be at the top of the page to save you time. My policy and techniques for removing stuff from the bottom - there will only ever be two weeks information shown in this page. At the bottom there will be a link to an index of earlier pages. This way, it will stop the page from becoming too long and unwieldy !

This weeks hotel
Once again - no hotel this week - just a pub !!

The Turning Point Inn.,
Canal Cottages,
Packet Boat Lane,
Cowley Peachey
Uxbridge
Middlesex
UB8 2JS
Telephone 01895 - 440 550
FAX 01895 - 422 144
Their website is at http://www.turningpoint.co.uk
Their EMail address is bookings@turningpoint.co.uk
This is a lovely canalside pub - as a "Man of the Cut", that makes it attractive to me.

It was always a lovely place but sadly I had not been to visit for over a year. My memory was of a place that served good Bar Snacks and good laid back high class meals in the Restaurant.

For no particular reason, I went back last Monday lunch time. I was a touch over-awed by the scale of the works going on at the side of the pub. I soon relaxed when I saw my friend John (the Boss) unlocking the gates to the temporary car park.

I went in and though it didn't look different, it felt different !!

By the time I departed, I was in no doubt that it was different. It really buzzed - the menu and staff were different - it was marvellous. John had re-invented the place, and it is much more betterer - hehehehe.

Well done John - it was great - long may it and you prosper - thank you.

The menu is a more appealing (less posh, I think) - the special boards in the restaurant are still full of good stuff. The prices seem lower - but I bet that the income is greater - very reasonably priced.

What did I eat - are you sure that you really want to know ??
Regular readers will already know that I am a growing pig, so they will not be surprised. (Maybe shocked though    !!! )

Started with Crab Cakes from the specials board.
Seems that I offended the Chef by asking for no garnishes or sauces - hehehe
Really good

Four potato shell with cheese and bacon (with some salady garnish !!)
Perfection - ate it all - even the garnish

Thick tomato and fennel soup (specially provided with loads of small crunchie crunchie croutons)
Licked the bowl clean (good hot "different" rolls with curls of butter - such style)

Pan fried liver and bacon with mash, onions and gravy
with side orders of crunchie crunchie spuds and spinach
Bloody marvellous !!

Two dollops of vanilla ice cream with nothing - no garnish - not even spun sugar basket.
Upset the Chef again by denying the opportunity to show off his presentation skills !!

Three pints of Diet Coke (I am diabetic after all    !!!)

Damn my bad memory, I forgot a pot of strong strong tea. It must be old age     .

The lady that looked after me was really good - she seemed to predict what I wanted before I asked - a great contribution to the experience - thank you.

Slightly over one hundred minutes of bliss - it has got to be worth driving a few miles to experience it.

Links
I was browsing some old pages that I had written ages ago - I came across two that bought back memories and made me smile - click here to have a look.

At the top this and of several of my "Writings" pages, I mention using Ctrl+End to get to the bottom of a page fast. A reader sent a message saying thank you, they had not known about that key combination. It got me to thinking and I wrote this. Hopefully it will help a few folk. I am sure that I will miss many. If you know of one that I have missed, please use the box at the bottom to tell me and I will add them.

Do you have a web page that plays up, or that you want to check on ? Visit http://validator.w3.org to have a look at it. It does not have to be your property, you can look at anyones pages !!

I was wandering around the internet looking for information about the game of dominoes.
I first found the page
boardgamecentral.com/dominoes/software.html which showed me lots of pages from which copies of domino programs can be downloaded.
I chose www.spinnerbaker.com/dom2000.htm - I played for ages - I even won some of the games - maybe it was a case of "little things please little minds" - but never mind Eh - I think I might pay the six quid to register it - it is quite addictive.
Give it a go - you may like it. (It even has sound effects for the shuffling !!)
